Dr Saiful mentioned that conjugated linoleic acid found mainly in milk and dairy products provides several health benefits including prevention of atherosclerosis, different types of cancer and hypertension.
Apart from, trans-palmitoleic acid a substance found in dairy fat which substantially reduce the risk of type-2 diabetes.
Drinking a glass of milk before going to bed keeps brain cool and helps sound sleep.
Highlighting the enormous aspects of milk to the nation-building process he mentioned that milk consumption is very important for both physical and mental development of the children. So, utmost emphasis should be given on ensuring fair price of milk and its safe supply.

Prof Jalal Uddin Sarder from Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences in Rajshahi University said many of the people including children suffer from malnutrition specially lacking of animal protein like milk, meat and egg.
He revealed that production of huge amount of milk through the indigenous cattle improvement would supply milk for people and it will ultimately protect them from malnutrition.
In the present society, many children watch advertisement of baby foods in television and become interested to having dried and junk foods and soft drinks which are harmful to their health, Dr Jalal Sarder opined.
Dr Hemayetul Islam, General Secretary of Bangladesh Livestock Society, suggested imposing ban on advertisement of baby foods which are injurious to health in both print and electronic media. There is no way but to ensure nutritious foods to the children for building a healthy generation.
If milk consumption was increased among people significantly the country’s dairy sector will be furthermore enriched as dairy animals are a popular asset in rural areas.
Dr Islam mentioned that large-scale promotion of the livestock sector is very important to remove the existing protein deficiency.
Besides meeting up the nutritional deficit especially meat and milk, the livestock sector has laudable contribution to enrich the soil nutrient, which is being declined gradually due to indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers and harmful pesticides.
“Milk production can be enhanced to ten times more through cross-breeding the indigenous cows with high yielding bulls,” Dr Hemayet added.
