6 HuJi men held in city: Militants planned to free their leader Ujjal from jail

Police on Friday arrested six members of banned militant outfit Harkat-ul-Jihad (HuJi) Bangladesh from the city’s Badda area.
A team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police
arrested them by conducting a drive in Satarkul area early morning.
Arrestees are: Md Billal Hossain, 25, Nur Alam, 28, Md Rafikul Islam, 29, Abul Mia, 35, Abdur Rahman, 30, and Akhtar Hossain, 34, confirmed CTTC Chief Monirul Islam.
Of them, Billal is the leader of the group, he said while briefing media at Maulana Bhashani Stadium at Gulistan in the capital.
Monirul was talking during the half- time of the friendly cricket match between the CTTC and Crime Reporters’ Association Bangladesh (CRAB).
In primary investigation, the militants admitted that they used to conduct robbing in order to collect fund according to the instructions of Ujjal alias Ratan, a death row convict in the August 21 attack case.
After collection of the fund, they are planning to buy weapons which they would then use to free Ujjal from Kashimpur jail and other members of their organisation.
Police also recovered a machete, three knives, two masks, one toy pistol and 100 ml of chloroform from their possessions.
