Police in a special drive busted a militant training camp at Rahmanpur in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat district on Tuesday afternoon.
The law enforcers also seized huge training equipments and jihadi books from the camp.
Police also arrested at least 13 activits of ‘Allahr Dal’ in this connection.
The arrested men were identified as Aynal Haque Prodhan, Masud Rana, Forhad Hossain, Safiul Hossain, Ziaur Rahman Jibu, Rokunuzzaman, Mohammad Hasan, Nur Alam, Alraf Hossain, Nur Huda, Abdur Rahim, Somsher Ali, and Ratan Mia.
Patgram Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rezaul Karim said that a team of police led by Sub-Inspector Ashraful Islam conducted a drive at Rahmanpur following information and found the training camp around 3:30pm.
The camp was controlled by local man Aynal Haque Prodhan, a coordinator of ‘Allahr Dal’ party in the upazila, the police official said.
The arrested people confessed in the police custody that they were members of Allahar Dal, the OC said.
Police also suspected that the arrested men might have connection with the Hijb-ut-Tahrir or other banned militant organization, he said.
They were gathered in the camp for creating sabotage in the area, the police official said.
Police are investigating the matter, he added.
