Prime Minister’s Media Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury yesterday said militancy, fundamentalism and the defeated pro-Pakistan forces are the main enemies to the development and achievement of Bangladesh.
“We will have to remain alert and united against these three enemies,” he said speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s home coming day in the city.
Tanti League organized the discussion meeting at National Press Club in the city with its Dhaka South Unit President Anowar Hossain Kanok in the chair.
Tanti League Convener Enajur Rahman Chowdhury, Dhaka District Road Transport Workers &Union General Secretary Ismail Hossain Bachchu and Tanti League leaders Saiful Islam, Khalilur Rahman and Shahjalal Patowari also addressed the meeting.
Iqbal Sobhan said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has declared ‘zero tolerance’ against militancy and terrorism.
The people of the country, too, will march forward under the leadership of the Prime Minister upholding the ‘zero tolerance’ policy, he added.
Referring to the home coming of Bangabandhu in 1972, the Prime Minister’s adviser said though the country was liberated on 16 December 1971, the people were feeling the absence of their leader.
The people enjoyed the jubilation completely when he returned home and joined a public meeting at Suhrawardi Udyan, he added.
The anti-liberation forces killed Bangabandhu, his family member and four national leaders in 1975 to push the country into darkness, he said, adding that the conspiracy for killings aimed at avenging the defeat of Pakistan in the Liberation War.
