Staff Reporter :The birth and death anniversary of Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (SM), widely known as Eid-e-Miladunnabi, is today (Sunday). The day will be observed across the country with due religious fervour and solemnity.On this day in 570, the 12th day of Robiul Awal of the Hijri Calendar, Prophet Muhammad (SM) was born in Makkah in Saudi Arabia with divine blessings and messages of peace for mankind. He also passed away on the same day after 63 years of This birth.The day is a public holiday. The government as well as religious and socio-cultural and political organisations have chalked out various programmes, including discussions and milad mahfil, to mark the day.Different Islamic organisations will take out peaceful processions carrying banners and festoons in the city and other parts of the country. They will also arrange competitions on recitation from the Holy Quran and exhibitions of religious books marking the day.Islamic Foundation Bangladesh will organise various programmes highlighting the significance of the day.Bangladesh Betar, Bangladesh Television and private TV channels will air special programmes while newspapers publish special articles on the day. On the occasion, President Abdul Hamid Advocate, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Opposition Leader Raushon Ershad and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia issued separate messages greeting the country’s people and Muslims across the world.
