A middle aged man named Lokman Majhi (50) of village Baraikhali within Morrrelganj Pourashava under Morrelganj Upazila in Bagerhat district was allegedly beaten to death by a neighbour of the man and his associates on Monday noon.
It is learnt from Nehari Begum, wife of the deceased and some locals that an enmity had been prevailing between Lokman Majhi and his neighbour Eunus Hawladar over the fixation of the demarcation line of their homesteads for long. On the day at about 12 am Eunus Hawladar suddenly appeared on the place of occurrence accompanied by his associates, began to beat the deceased and his wife mercilessly and at one stage fled away living him (Lokman Majhi) injured.
Then in spite of his injuries Lokman Majhi rushed to Morrelganj PS and made a complaint verbally with the PS and just when he had left it he fell ill seriously.
Then he was rushed to a local clinic where the physician on duty declared him dead. In this connect one person was arrested so far by the police.
