‘Microbial Genetics and Bioinformatics Lab’ was inaugurated at Dhaka University Microbiology Department on Wednesday.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated it as the chief guest.
Later, another function for taking donation for ‘Microbiology Department of Dhaka University (MDDU) Trust’ was held at the departmental seminar room with its Chairperson Prof Humayra Akhter in the chair.
Prof Arefin addressed the function as the chief guest while Dean of Biological Sciences Faculty Prof M Emdadul Haque, eminent lawyer Barrister Rafiqul Haque, Prof Chowdhury Rafiqul Ahsan and Prof Mahfuzul Haque joined the function as the special guests.
Barrister Rafiqul Haque handed over a cheque for Taka 10 lac to the vice-chancellor for the trust while Monjura Joha handed over a cheque for Taka 2 lac. Some teachers of the department also handed over cheques of different amounts to VC.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique thanked Barrister Rafiqul Haque, Monjura Joha and departmental teachers to donate money for enhancement of education and research at the Department of Microbiology.
