Cricket Australia says former Australia captain Michael Clarke has signed with Kowloon Cantons for a two-day Hong Kong Twenty20 tournament beginning May 28.
Since retiring after Australia lost the Ashes in England last August, the 115-test veteran has played only one competitive match for local club side Western Sydney.
Hong Kong Cricket Association chief executive Tim Cutler says signing Clarke was a big coup.
Cutler says “to have a recent test captain who oversaw … the 2015 World Cup victory and who sat atop the world batting rankings a number of times is just incredible.”
Clarke last played a T20 match in May 2012 with the now-defunct Indian Premier League franchise Pune Warriors.
