To meet the increasing demand of actuary professionals, MetLife has been working to encourage potential students to actuarial science education.
MetLife has taken up the initiative of “Actuarial Study Programme” to meet the demand of skilled manpower in the insurance sector as part of its social responsibility.
Under this programme, in January 2015, MetLife selected six students from the Department of Mathematics, University of Dhaka for Actuarial Science Education scholarship.
Selected students for the “Actuarial Study Programme” receive examination fees, costs for the study materials and monthly stipend from MetLife.
Four of the six students who received the scholarship have successfully passed the first examination and are taking preparation for the next examination.
Chief Marketing Officer and Deputy General Manager, MetLife, Bangladesh, Syed Hammadul Karim said, “There is a vacuum due to lack of awareness and facilities in the actuarial science education. MetLife has been encouraging potential students to the actuarial study to meet the growing demand of the sector and providing them financial support through scholarship.”
