Bangladesh Navy athletes Mesbah Ahmed and Shirin Akhter respectively emerged the fastest man and woman of the Walton Smart TV 12th National Summer Athletics Championship that concluded at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Monday.Mesbah Ahmed earned the honor by clinching the gold medal of the men’s 100-meter sprint with a timing of 10.43 seconds, Kazi Shah Imran of the same team bagged the event’s silver clocking 10.84 seconds while Shariful Islam of Bangladesh Army won the bronze with a timing of 10.85 seconds.Shirin Akhter emerged as the fastest woman by winning the women’s 100- meter gold medal clocking 12.24 seconds, Sumita Ghosh of Bangladesh Army took the event’s silver with a timing of 12.94 seconds while Barsha Khatun of Chittagong District won the bronze clocking 13.37 seconds.Secretary General of Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) Syed Shahed Reza was the chief guest at the day’s closing function and distributed the prizes.Additional Director of the meet’s sponsor Walton FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn and Secretary of National Sports Council Shibnath Roy were present as special guests. General Secretary of Bangladesh Athletics Federation Ibrahim Chengish was also present.Some 323 athletes from 29 teams took part in the 36 events of the meet.
