When Golam Farida Chhanda was a student of Drama Department of Dhaka University she got Wahida Mollick Jolly as her teacher. Among many students, Chhanda became one of the established actresses later.
Once under the direction of Salauddin Lavlu, Wahida Mollick Jolly and Chhanda first performed together in a play titled Ekjon Aynal Laskar. After completing her study Chhanda later performed together with Jolly in many plays.
After a break of one year, they again performed together in a single episode play titled Kokhon Ojantey.
Satirtho Rahman Rubel gave direction of this play.
Shooting of the play was taken place at a shooting house in the city’s Uttara area now. After a break of one year, Rubel gave direction of this play.
Rubel last year made a serial titled Udor Pindi Budhor Gharey for Boishakhi TV.
While sharing her feelings to work with her student Chhanda in a play noted actress Wahida Mollick Jolly told this correspondent, “In her student life, Chhanda was a talented student. She specially did well in practical classes. She had all kinds of necessary qualities, which are required to be a reputed actress. I always wish her success.”
Actress Golam Farida Chhanda shared her feelings by this way, “Jolly Apa is not only a simple person but also a talented performer. She is one of our favourite teachers in the department. We always feel her as our intimate person. For this reason, while working with her I always feel that I am working with a good human being who has sense of humour.”
The play Kokhon Ojantey is a thriller story based family drama. It will be aired in any satellite channel in Eid-ul-Fitr. Joyonto Chatterjee also acted in an important role in the play, said director Rubel.
It may be mentioned that Jolly and Chhanda last performed together under Rubel’s directed a play titled Mon Je Kichhu Bujhena.
Meanwhile, Jolly acted and Afsana Mimi directed a daily soap Shatti Tarar Timir is being aired on ATN Bangla now. She got the National Film Award 2013 in category of Best Costume Designer for Gazi Rakayet’s directed movie Mrittika Maya.
Her acted last movie was Dr Arup Ratan Chowdhury’s Swargo Thekey Norok, which is waiting to release now.
On the other hand, Chhanda acted serials – Jibon-er Oligoli, Mohor Ali and Kahini – are being aired on ATN Bangla and Channel i now.
