A just-born baby girl was allegedly killed by a mentally challenged mother and then the body was dumped into a hole in the nearby jungle behind her house at Matlab Uttar Upazila early hours recently.
Various sources said, wife of Kamaluddin, pregnant mother Shirina Akter,23, Thakurkandi village of the Upazila was feeling acute labour pain at home at dead of night. Then her mother- in- law went out to call for a village nurse(mid wife) for getting natural delivery done at home. In the meantime, her labour pain turned unbearable and she delivered the baby girl in the washroom of her house. Then she allegedly killed the baby and dumped her in a hole at the nearby jungle behind her dwelling house. The mother- in- law asked her ‘Where the baby was.’ She remained silent and lastly gave a sharp reply that the baby was dead and so, dumped into the hole in the nearby bush behind the home. Being shocked, the mother -in- law then shouted and informed the matter to the partition neighbours and local bigwigs and public representatives.
