The men’s singles matches advanced to quarterfinals and women’s singles those reached the semifinal stages in the Swiss Paper Independence Day Tennis Tournament at National Tennis Complex (NTC) here on Wednesday.
In the day’s men’s singles matches, Delwar Hossain of the NTC beat Rumman of Zafar Imam Tennis Complex (ZITC) by 6-2, 6-4 games while Milan Hossain of American Club defeated Delwar Hossain of Narsingdi Tennis Club 6-2, 6-1, Rubel Hossain defeated Hanif Munna 7-6, 4-6, 6-2, Amol Roy of Engineers Club beat Mohammad Salim of Manikganj Tennis Club 6-2, 6-3, Arif Hossain of American Club beat Mohammad Rana of Officers Club 6-1, 6-4 and Akhter Hossain of Narsingdi TC defeated his compatriot Omar Faruk Sunny 6-1, 6-1 to reach the quarterfinals.
In the day’s women’s singles, Afrana Islam Priti of BKSP beat Rajnita Chowdhury of NTC by 6-2, 6-2 games while Jerin Sultana Joly beat Rinvi Akhter of BKSP 6-2, 6-0, Poppy Akhter of BKSP defeated her team mate Eti Akhter 6-0, 6-1 and Eshita Afroz of BKSP beat Ayesha Sultana of NTC 6-1, 6-1 to qualify for the events semifinals.
