Menon for involving all to achieve SDGs

Stressing the need for ensuring development for all, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon on Sunday said the development should be given a human face to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“Development should be people-centric and people of all level, including the grassroots one, should be involved in it. Along with it, disparity must be removed from the society,” said the minister while speaking at the opening session of a workshop in the city.
Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) organized the workshop “Voice of Mass People: successful implementation of SDGs by 2030 in Bangladesh” with its chairman Dr. Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad in the chair.
Senior secretary of the water resources ministry Dr Zafar Ahmed Khan, PKSF managing director Dr Abdul Karim and additional secretary Avijit Chowdhury, among others, addressed it.
Menon said the government is committed to ensuring sustainable development by 2030 and hoped that PKSF would play active role in this regard.
He said Bangladesh achieved tremendous success in alleviation of poverty. But disparity is on rise and steps are not taken to reduce disparity it would create instability in the society, he added.
Dr. Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad said poverty and hunger should be reduced and water and health facilities should be ensured for all for achieving SDGs. PKSF has been working from grassroots level to help the government achieve SDGs, he said, adding that it has been working to ensure education, health service for all.
