Indian recruit Ashok Menaria scored a match-winning half century as Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity registered a three-wicket victory over Brothers Union Club in the seventh round match of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPDCL) held on Sunday at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.
Chasing a small target of 188 runs set by Brothers Union Club, Khelaghar reached home for the loss of seven wickets with three balls to spare.
The all-rounder Menaria top scored with 55 runs after openers Sadikur Rahman (35) and Rafsan Al Mahmud (30) provided a good start to Khelaghar contributing 67-run for the opening stand.
Sohrawordi Shuvo and Mehedi Hasan Rana bagged two Khelaghar’s wickets each.
Earlier, Brothers Union Club suffered early batting jolt and eventually dismissed at a paltry total for 187 in 46 overs, after they were put to bat first by Khelaghar.
Skipper Alok Kapali top scored with 66 runs of Brothers dilapidated innings followed by Sohrawordi Shuvo ( 33 n.o).
Hasan Mahmud was the pick of Khelaghar bowler as he grabbed three Brothers Union’s wickets.
Ashok Menaria of Khelaghar was named the player of the match for his impressive batting performance.
