Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Dr Akhtaruzzaman said building an inclusive society will only be possible
when equal rights of men and women are established in the society to achieve the goals of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
“We will be able to become successful in achieving the goals of SDG through building an inclusive society. And It is not possible to build an inclusive society without establishing equal rights of men and women in the society,” said Akhtaruzzaman.
He said this on Thursday while addressing the rally marking the 141th birth and the 89th death anniversary of Begum Rokeya Shakhawat Hossain, the pioneer for women’s rights in the subcontinent, said a press release. Dr Akhtaruzzaman said Begum Rokeya has made a unique contribution in establishing women’s rights and dignity in the society as well as emancipating and empowering women.
“Holding the ideology of Begum Rokeya, we have to work for the development of the society and to take the society forward irrespective of men and women,” he added.

Ruqayyah Hall, led by DU VC Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman and Ruqayyah Hall provosts Dr Zeenat Huda brought out a rally which marched key points of the university.Earlier, teachers, students and official of Ruqayyah Hall, led by DU VC Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman placed floral wreath at the portrait of Begum Rokeya at the hall premises.
