A memorial speech on the life and works of Prof Bashira Mannan was held at the Dhaka University with its Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique in the chair.
A memorial speech of 2014 on women’s role in food and nutrition was also presented by Institute of Nutrition and Food Science director Prof Dr Nazma Shahin.
Women and Children Affairs Ministry secretary Nachima Begum, ndc, also presented a memorial speech on women empowerment and initiatives taken by the government.
DU VC Prof Siddique called upon all to work from their respective positions to end the inequality between man and woman and said, attaining that goal without education is impossible.
Prof Bashira Mannan was the teacher in DU Institute of Social Welfare and Research and her son ambassador Masud Mannan established the ‘Prof Bashira Mannan Trust Fund’.
