Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in a drive arrested a member of an international human trafficking syndicate from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here on Monday night.
The arrestee was identified as Nannu Miah alias Lulu Miah, 55, son of late Shafique Miah of Nasirpur village in Balaganj upazila of Sylhet district.
Tipped off, a CID team arrested Nannu around 7:55 pm while coming out of the immigration at the airport. He landed at the airport by a flight of ‘Fly Dubai’ from Iran. He was recently released from Iran jail.
Nannu Miah is an active member of the international human trafficking gang and involved in sending people to different countries, including Iran, Turkey and Greece, from Bangladesh.
Nannu is also an accused in a human trafficking case filed with Bhashantek Police Station in June, 2014.
