UNB, Jessore :
Engineer Nurul Islam, father of slain Dr Shamrukh Mehzabin Sumi, on Wednesday urged the Prime Minister to ensure the trial of his daughter’s alleged killers.
Speaking at a press conference at Jessore Press Club also expressed his concern that the accused in the Sumi murder case are trying to influence her autopsy report.
The accused in the case are Sumi’s husband Humayun Sultan Sadab, his father Khan Tipu Sultan, a former MP of Jessore, and mother Dr Jasmine Ara Begum.
Nurul Islam said, Mehzabin’s in-laws made false claims that Sumi was found hanging from the grill of the ventilator of a toilet in their residence with a scarf. “This is impossible to hang oneself from the height of the grill,” he claimed.
Nurul Islam further claimed that he and Mehzabin had a phone conversation-lasting about 45 minutes-a day before her killing, and that Mehzabin requested him to save her from her in-laws.
During the conversation, Mehzabin expressed her fear that she had got hold of some documents in that house revealing corruption of former MP Khan Tipu Sultan, added Nurul Islam.
On the evening of November 13, Mehzabin was brought to Dhanmandi Central Hospital in an unconscious state where doctors declared her dead.
