A local leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) was hacked to death by miscreants at Char Goalgram village in Gangni upazila on Wednesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Haser Ali,25, a resident of the same village and joint secretary of the Gangni upazila unit of JCD, student wing of BNP.
Officer-in-charge of Gangni Police Station Akram Hossain said a gang of miscreants chopped Haser Ali indiscriminately and slit his throat on his
way to crop land in the area at about 6:00am, leaving him dead on the spot.
Informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Meherpur General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
The deceased was wanted in the case for the killing of Awami League leaders Atahar Ali and Habibur Rahman of the village, the OC added. A case was filed in this connection.
