Mehedi emerges unbeaten champ in Rating Chess

FM Mehedi Hasan Parag of Leonine Chess Club emerged unbeaten champion in the Golden Sporting Club International Rating Chess Tournament that concluded on Wednesday at the Muktijudho Smrity Stadium Bhaban in Rajshahi.
IM Abu Sufian Shakil of Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited became runner-up while Parag and Shakil both earned 7.5 points each after end of the 9th round. Their ties were broken by tie-breaking system. Parag clinch the title with better Buchholz and Shakil became runner-up.
Four players earned 7 points each. Their positions are 3rd-FM Debaraj Chatterjee of Titas Club, 4th-WIM Rani Hamid, 5th-M Saiful Islam Chowdhury of Sonali Bank Sports & Recreation Club and 6th-Shahnaz Mohammad Faruk.
Five players earned 6.5 each, their positions are 7th-Dilip Das of India, 8th-Shrutarshi Roy of India, 9th-M Babul Pran, 10th-Abdur Rashid and 11th-Shah Mahfuzul Karim of Moulavi Bazar.
In the 9th or last round games, Pagar beat Dilip, Shakil beat Shrutarshi, Debaraj drew with Rani Hamid, Saiful beat Fahad, Shahnaz beat Shafiq, Rashid beat FM Mahfuzur Rahman.
