An exchange meeting was held on Sunday at Paturia Ferry Ghat area in the Padma-River View Hall room on safe passenger transport. Manikganj District Administration arranged the meeting.
Manikganj DC Muhammad Abdul Latif presided over the function. Additional District Magistrate ArifaZahura, Superintendent of Police Golam Azad Khan, RAB-4 Manikganj Region Lieutenant Commander Arifur Rahman, BIWTA and TC Officers-Employees, Roads and Highways Department, Fire Service, Launch-Speedboat, Bus-Truck Owners-Workers, Heads of various departments related to the ghats including local people’s representatives took part in the meeting.
During the meeting, Dhaka-Aricha highway, Paturia-Aricha ferry-launch ghat and other terminal areas to control law and order, prevent extortion in transport, control car parking and serial system everywhere, prevent extra passengers and fares in road and water transport, illegal vehicles on the highway and touch necessary orders and instructions were given to the concerned department to ensure the safety of the passengers waiting at night, including stopping the movement of cargo ships and bulkheads at night, and to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the wharf area.
