Chattogram University authorities have banned all gatherings on the campus of Chittagong University (CU) indefinitely due to the outbreak of new type of coronavirus Omicron.
Acting Registrar of the University Professor SM Monirul Islam confirmed the matter to the media on Tuesday (January 18) morning.
Earlier, the directive was given in a circular signed by Professor SM Monirul Islam on October 18. Infection with coronavirus (Covid-19) has recently increased at an alarming rate across the country, including in Chittagong, the statement said.
The virus is spreading rapidly in Chittagong University campus and adjoining areas. In view of the overall situation, in the interest of protection of teachers, students, officers, employees and their families, ban on holding any rally, cultural program, concluding function (Rag Day) and public gathering on campus without the permission of the university authorities from January 1.
