The prize giving ceremony of “IFIC Bank-DQS SSMC Carnival Captive 2014” was held at Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) auditorium in the city on Friday. Debate and Quiz Society (DQS) of Sir Salimullah Medical College organized the event.
Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque was the chief guest at the ceremony while language activist and Rabindra researcher, Dr Ahmed Rafiq was present as the distinguished special guest. Managing Director of IFIC Bank, Shah A Sarwar, Assistant General Secretary of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA), Prof Kamrul Hasan Khan were also present at the event.
After handing over the prizes to the winners, the chief guest said, “I am immensely delighted to attend this ceremony today. DQS deserves congratulation in arranging such a colorful event that will aid in flourishing extra skills of our students besides academic studies.”
He along with other speakers wished for the continuity of such event and requested the youth to know the actual history of the war of liberation. The program was hosted by Dr Dilip Dhar, Principal of Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital.
This year the event had sections of liberation war Olympiad, inter university debate and quiz competitions, inter school/college debate and quiz competitions, medical spelling competition (medispell), and ideation competition workshop on various topics. This is the largest ever inter institute event hosted by DQS.
Debate and Quiz Society (DQS) started their journey since February 2013 in Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital.
This is their 2nd event after the successful event organized back in 2013. DQS aims at furnishing the extracurricular skills of the medical students besides their tight academic studies.
This year winners are at Liberation war Olympiad, Shamsunnahar Taposhi at Sir Salimullah Medical College won 1st place, Pinak Trivedi, Sir Salimullah Medical College won the 2nd place. University of Dhaka got the 1st place in Inter University Debate while Stamford University ensured 2nd place.
At Inter University Quiz, Dhaka Medical College got the 1st place while the 2nd place was won by Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). Sir Salimullah Medical College becoame the 1st at Medical spelling competition (Medispell) and Anowar Khan Medical College got the 2nd place.
