Speakers at view exchange meet: Medicare services to be threatened if CMCH turns into varsity

 The medicare services will be affected and the sufferings of the patients will be mounted if , the Chittagong Medical College Hospital is turned into a medical university.
This was expressed by the c physicians , professionals and politicians at a view exchange meeting organised by the Pagratishil Doctors Forum at Chittagong Press Cllub Auditorium on Friday .
The speakers in the meet said the present cost of the medicare services will increased by 15% more if the CMCH is turned as university. As a result the poor and middle class people will be deprived of healthcare service from the university after paying 15% excess cost than existing cost. Noted freedom fighter and researcher of liberation war affairs Dr. Mahfuzur Rahman presided over it and the convenor of the Forum Dr. Sushanta Barua readout a concept paper about the disadvantages of the medical university for the common poor and mid income people. Shahid Jaya Begum Mustari Shafi, Engr. Subash Chandra Barua, Dr. Subash Sutrdhar, Md. Rashed, Udichi Vice President Chandan Das, JSD leader Manash Nandi, Coordinator Mohiuddin, politician Siddiq Islam,Advocate Salahuddin Haider, Lecturer Rigan Majumder, General secretary Diploma Nurse Association Ratan Kumar Nath, took part in the discussion. The chair in his address said establishment of Chittagong Medical University is a long-felt demand of Chittagong but it should be located in separate place otherwise the medicare services in the present hospital will be declined if the existing CMCH is turned as university.
 The speakers drawn attention of the concerned ministry and the Minister to realize the matter and to choose separate venue for the university instead of CMCH. In the meeting, a 21-members committee was formed under the name of Public Health Rights Committee, sources said.
