There are a total of 36 public (4,068 seats) and 70 private medical colleges (6,340 seats) in Bangladesh.
With the addition of 282 extra seats to 18 public medical colleges, as many as 10,690 medical students can be accommodated this year.

Normally, the admission process for medical and dental students starts from October to November every year, after the HSC results are published.
However, due to the coronavirus crisis, HSC and equivalent exams were cancelled in 2020. The government later evaluated the 2020 HSC candidates based on their JSC/JDC and SSC results and published the coordinated results on January 30 this year.
