Abul Kalam Azad, Managing Director and Chief Editor of the national news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), said media workers should perform their duties keeping their conscience clear for the freedom achieved for the welfare of the country and its people. “The country achieved independence under the farsighted and charismatic leadership of greatest Bangalee of all times Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his illustrious daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly for building Bangladesh as a developed nation,” he said.
Azad said the journalists should play a positive role in building a country free from terrorism, militancy and communalism.
The BSS Chief Editor said this on Thursday while speaking as the chief guest on the concluding session of a workshop on reporting for electronic and print media organised by the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) at Circuit House Road in the city. PIB chairman Habibur Rahman Milon chaired the concluding session, also addressed, among others, by additional secretary (development) of Information Ministry SM Harun-ar-Rashid, president of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) Altaf Mahmud and PIB director general Shah Alamgir.
