Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury urged media to play responsible role in upholding democracy through sensitizing people from all walks of life towards democratic practices.
“Media needs to work in creating mass opinion to upholding democratic practice in the country,” she said this on Monday while speaking at a function marking the 3rd anniversary of Asian TV held in LD hall of Parliament Members Club.
Terming mass media as a blooming sector of the country, the Speaker said the role of media in creating mass opinion is immense.
Chief Whip ASM Firoz and Chairman of Asian TV M Harun Rashid also spoke on the occasion.
Members of Parliament Rustam Ali Forazi and Sabina Akhtar Tuhin and officials of Asian TV were present.
Earlier, the Speaker inaugurated the function by cutting a cake.
