UK community leaders say: Media to help strengthen democracy

UK-based Welfare Association general secretary Sahed Uddin Chowdhury and Joint Secretary Nojrul Islam Khan have sought role of media in attaining national progress as Bangladesh is now on the way to development and making its endeavor towards flourishing democratic process.
It is our sacred responsibility to nourish and foster this development process through concerted efforts so that a happy and prosperous country is established, they said this while talking to journalists at a restaurant in Kulaura Upazila of Moulvibazar district on Friday night .
 “As you know, accuracy, objectivity, patriotism and public accountability are some of the vital elements of ethics in journalism, which should be upheld,” they said. They said that a good newspaper is the mirror of the society that reflects the overall development and affairs of a nation in its true perspective.
Sahed Uddin Chowdhury, community leader also said the role of newspapers, however, is of paramount importance in building a prosperous society as well as a nation. Terming Bangladesh as a ‘developing country’, he said the country has been facing various problems and striving hard to attain the cherished development goals since its independence.
In the last session welfare association general secretary Sahed Uddin Chowdhury declared eleven thousand six hundred taka for treatment for a ultra poor kid named Rupa.
