UNB, Dhaka :
Health Minister Mohammad Nasim on Friday called upon all, including the mass media, to play their due role in raising awareness on prevention of Tuberculosis (TB).
“The disease is curable. Its free test and treatment are available across the country. The disease can be prevented easily if awareness is raised by spreading the messages,” he said.
The Health Minister was addressing a roundtable titled ‘The role of directly observed treatment (DOT) in controlling MDR TB (Multi-drug-resistant tuberculosis)’ at BRAC centre at Mohakhali in the capital.
Health Directorate, the Daily Ittefaq and BRAC jointly organised the programme with Ittefaq managing editor Asish Saikot in the chair. Stressing on importance of early detection of TB case and providing treatment to poor patients, the minister said better results can be derived if all can work together for prevention of the disease. Other speakers called for allocation of more funds in TB control programme and providing quality treatment to patients both at government and non-governmental level.
