Staff Reporter :
The government has uploaded 5.12 crores Record of Rights (RoR/Khatiyan/Porcha) of land to online.
Land Secretary Md. Mostafizur Rahman disclosed the information while speaking at a memorandum of understanding signing ceremony between the Ministry of Land and Dhaka Power Distribution Company Ltd. (DPDC) of the Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources in the conference room of the Ministry of Land on Sunday. Additional Secretary (Field Administration) of the Ministry of Land Pradip Kumar Das and DPDC Company Secretary Md. Asaduzzaman
signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations. The MoU has given utmost importance to the protection of the personal information of the landowner and the electricity consumer.
By collecting the information of the addresses of all the power connections of an individual, the Ministry of Land will be able to know what the land is actually being used for.
It would be easier to uncover illegal ‘out of class’ land use information and land development tax evasion by verifying the class of concerned land and its actual use, the land secretary said adding, “it is our expectation that the actual land revenue collection of the government will increase significantly.”
On the other hand, in the case of power connection, DPDC will be able to verify the information of the actual owner of the land by verifying the accuracy of the land document submitted by an individual or the copy of the submitted land deed.
Among others, DPDC Managing Director Engineer Bikash Dewan and senior officials of the Ministry of Land and Dhaka Power Distribution Company Ltd were attended on the occasion.
