Mass Dog Vaccination (MDV) programme to eliminate Rabies in Austrogram has started on Sunday.
In the presence of Upazilla Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Mohsin Uddin the programme was inaugurated at 6am at Upazila Health Complex by vaccinating a street dog.
MDV Consultants of Communicable Disease Control (CDC) Division under Director General of Health Services (DGHS), Dr Kamrul Islam and Dr. Md. Eiktier Dewan Mukul; Assistant Health Inspector of Austrogram Health Complex, Afroza Bulbuli Siddika were also present.
The 5- day long MDV programme in all of eight union’s were started at the same time at about 6am & continued till 1pm.There are several teams working in Austrogram under this programme.
About this MDV program Deputy Program Manager of CDC; DGHS, Dr. Golam Kaiser said Rabies is one of the most fatal disease & mostly it is occurred by Dog bite. So this programme in Austrogram can play the most significant role to eliminate Rabies, he stated.
