MDBs back new global development agenda

Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) hailed adoption of a Sustainable Development Agenda (SDA) for the next generation and are fully committed to stepping up their support to ensure its success, according to an IMF press release, received here on Friday.
At the United Nations General Assembly in New York taking place from 25-27 September, world leaders endorsed new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), an ambitious agenda that aims to end poverty, promote prosperity and to protect the environment.
Leaders of the MDBs – the African Development Bank, Asian Development Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, European Investment Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, World Bank Group – and the IMF described the agreement as an historic landmark.
