MC College rape Tribunal accepts charges against 8 BCL men

A Sylhet tribunal on Tuesday accepted charges against eight leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in a case filed over the gang-rape of a young woman after confining her husband to a room of an MC College dormitory in Sylhet.
Judge M Mohitul Haque of the Women and Children Prevention Tribunal took cognisance of the charge-sheet against them. The charge-sheeted accused-Saifur Rahman, Tarequl Islam Tareque, Shah Mahbubur Rahman Rony, Arjun Laskar, Rabiul Islam, Mahfuzur Rahman Masum, Misbaur Rahman alias Rajon and Ainuddin-were produced before the court during the hearing.On December 3 last, police pressed charges against the BCL men in the case.
The National University (NU) earlier revoked the studentship and certificates of four of them-Saifur, Rony, Rabiul and Mahfuz.
A group of BCL leaders and activists gang-raped the young woman after confining her husband to a room of MC College hostel in Sylhet on September 25.
The victim’s husband filed a case with Shah Poran Police Station against six named and three unmanned people.
