Police arrested Mahfuzur Rahman, another named accused in the case filed over Sylhet MC College gang rape, on Monday night.
Mahfuzur is the son of Salik Ahmed, a resident of Lama Doloikandi village under Kanaighat upazila in Sylhet.
With him, seven accused of the case have, so far, been arrested, Shah Poran Police Station OC Abdul Qayyum confirmed.
He said among the arrested accused, three have been placed on five-day remand. The rest will be produced in court on Tuesday.
On September 25, a young woman was gang raped allegedly by several BCL activists at MC College while visiting there with her husband.
The BCL men forcibly took the couple to the college hostel at Tilagarh area at about 8:30pm, tying the husband and raped the wife.
Later, the victim’s husband lodged a case with the Police Station against nine persons mentioning the name of six BCL men.
