Mercantile Bank Ltd on Monday organised the ‘Mercantile Bank Sommanona-2019’ to award four eminent personalities and one institution for their outstanding contributions to the society.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Fazle Kabir handed over the gold medals, crests and cheques to all the awardees at a graceful ceremony at Hotel Intercontinental in the city as the Chief Guest.
The awardees are Dr Tofael Ahmed (Education), Captain Shahabuddin Ahmed, Bir Uttom (Freedom Fighter & Liberation War based Research), Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute, Mymensingh (Economics & Economics Based Research), Abul Kashem (Commerce and Industry) and Mosharraf Hossain Khan (Sports)
Besides, the Bank awarded 5 young bankers selected through a 5-step competitive process at the same occasion. The awardees are Uzzwal Kumar Singha, AVP of IFIC Bank Ltd, Sirajul Islam, AVP of AB Bank Ltd, AKM Hossainuzzaman, FAVP of Mercantile Bank Ltd, Tawhid Khan Majlish, FAVP of Mutual Trust Bank Ltd and Mohammad Arafat Hossain, FAVP of Bank Asia Limited.
Bank’s Chairman A.K.M. Shaheed Reza, stating Bank’s progress in all variables, said that Mercantile Bank has been established as a sustainable, reliable and customer friendly bank by its tremendous effort over two decades.
Bank’s Chairman AKM Shaheed Reza presided over the programme and Managing Director Md Quamrul Islam Chowdhury delivered the welcome speech.
