The admission test for the first year MBBS course in the both government and private medical colleges for the academic year 2020-21 was held on Friday when the second wave of Covid-19 infections are showing signs of devastation.
One lakh 22 thousand 874 students took part in the examination.
The test was conducted in 75 halls out of 55 venues in 19 centers across the country.
Although the test was prepared in accordance with the hygiene rules, there were a huge crowd of parents and guardians outside the centers.
Many even did not have a mask on their faces, nor did they accede to social distance.
In the Dhaka University area, thousands of applicants came to appear in the medical admission test.
Students along with their parents faced intolerable sufferings as the main gate adjacent to the central mosque of the campus was kept closed whereas the pocket gate only was kept open.
On the other hand in Chatrogram, the examinees were not given hand sanitizer at the entrance; the temperature was also not measured. There was a risk of corona infection due to lack of social distance.
At this , the parents expressed frustration at the weakness of the management. Expressing anger, one of the guardians said that it is very common for parents to come with the examinees. The examination should have been organized keeping all the arrangements inside the center; There was

no place to stand outside. What is the benefit of following such rules?
It is mentionable that the incidents of three to four guardians coming with the examinees were common.
Earlier, all examinees, invigilators and other officials were asked to strictly follow the health guidelines issued by the World Health Organisation and the Ministry of Health.
In addition, the entrances to the test centres were equipped with thermal scanners, disinfectant auto-spray machines and hand sanitisers to measure the temperature.
There were little signs of obeying the hygiene rules in examinations center, the Director General of the health education department said on his mobile phone, “It was only our responsibility to ensure safety inside the center.” It was not our responsibility to take cave of the outsiders, he added.
Examiners were allowed to enter the center after searching the body and checking the body temperature.
At last, millions of medical admissions in the country have to take part in the admission test for the first time due to the drawback of autopsy in HSC.
