City Mayor AJM Nasiruddin called upon the newly assigned Chairman of Chittagong Port Authority Rear Admiral M Khaled Iqbal to increase the capacity of the port. City Mayor discloses it to CPA chairman while exchanging views at Mayor’s office chamber on Monday. New CPA chairman requested the city mayor to extend all out cooperation to him .CPA chairman paid courtesy call on city mayor on Mondayat latters office .City Mayor told that CP is the backbone of the nation and 80 percent imports and exports are conducted through this port, so the capacity of the port must be increased according to demand of the hour.
They discussed the matters of the national interest and emphasised the need of capital dredging in karnaphuli channel, construction of termianl at Laldiarchar and port labour colony, use of land on bothbanksof theriver . :Port secretary Omar Faruk was also present during their meet, a CCC sources said.
