Mayor urges dwellers to be vocal against illegal occupants

Acting Mayor Abdus Sabur Liton has warned that no matter how powerful the illegal occupants are, they will not be released under any circumstances.
He made the remarks while inspecting a mobile court on Thursday while inspecting illegal evictions from the banks of Birjakhal in Baripara. He urged the city dwellers to be vocal against the occupants of canals, ditches and sidewalks.
The Mayor said the main problem in the city is waterlogging. In order to get rid of this waterlogging completely, 21 more canals need to be dug and cleaned outside the mega project. Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury has been keeping in touch with the ministry on this issue. During this dry season, work is underway to remove the accumulated soil from small and big drains of the city. He urged the concerned parties to work sincerely to complete this work before the onset of monsoon season.
The Mayor said that the mosquito eradication work in the city is being carried out by dividing it into six zones. To make these activities more dynamic, the officials of the concerned department have to perform their duties smoothly. He sought the cooperation of the people of the city in this regard.
