Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin stressed on political commitment along with ensuring utmost transparency and accountability of all works of the city corporation.
The Chittagong City Corporation Mayor was addressing the views exchange meeting arranged at City Corporation Auditorium yesterday noon .
After assumption of the charge of City Mayor, it was the first meet with the journos and the high officials of the govt , autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies in here .City Corporation presented 122 demands of 23 organisations of the city related to the development of the port city before the meet .
Among others, Divisional commissioner of Chittagong Md.Abdullah, Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Mesbahuddin, Chairman of CWASA Engr. Fazlullah, CDA Chairman Abdus Salam and the representatives from different govt bodies including CMP police, Bangaldesh Railway (East) , Water Development Board, Power Development board , Ctg Port authority etc. were present in it.
Out of total 122 demands includes 20 demands from CDA, 12 each from Railway and CMP police, 3 demands from port authority and district administration 7 demands. The speakers in the meet asked the ChittagongPort authority to provide funds for development of roads and other infrastructures related to Ctg Port to CCC. The meet was also asked all govt , antonomous, semi-autonomous bodies to pay the huge outstanding holding and municipal tax to the corporation for boosting the CCC fund.
Personal Secretary of the City Mayor Manzoorul Islam presented the 122 -point demand before the meet on behalf of the Mayor.
Eradication of water-logging of the Chittagong port city is one of the topmost priority issue of my works, said the CCC Mayor.
The topmost priority of my works is to eradicate water-logging of the Chittagong city and I am working in that line, said AJM Nasir Uddin.
“We should protect Chittagong City by eradicating its water-logging problem as the Chittagong Port is one of the driving force of the economy of the country.
The economy of the country would be collapsed if the city becomes useless,” he said.
He also sought every cooperation from all service providing organizations of the city aimed at developing the city in a clean and livable atmosphere .
