Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon’s programme in the city’s Paribagh suffered a setback on Thursday when its mancha broke down.
The incident took place at Nalipara, Paribag around 12:30pm.
There were as many as 30-35 people on the mancha. However, no one was hurt.
The mayor answered a few questions only
because of the accident.
Under the title “Public representative meets the public,” the event was held near the gate next to Paribag Mosque. The mayor was answering queries and listening to requests and suggestions from the audience. But at 12:30pm, the stage suddenly collapsed.
Mayor Khokon said: “Thanks to almighty Allah, none of us got hurt. Everyone is safe.”
MA Hamid, the Councilor of Ward 21, presided over the programme. The event also hosted DCC Chief Executive Khan Mohammad Bilal, Chief Asset Officer Kamrul Islam Chowdhury, Chief Waste Management Officer Shafiqul Islam and Chief Health Officer Salahuddin Ahmed.
The Mayor however asked the people to be aware of mosquitoe menace.
He also expressed hope that the DSCC will drive away the chikunguniya disease from its jurisdiction.
