Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Annisul Huq was served a legal notice by US expatriate Shamimun Nahar Lipi, sister-in-law of his brother.
The notice was sent to the mayor via postal mail by the Supreme Court lawyer Masud Rana on Tuesday.
Masud Rana told newsmen that Shamimun Nahar Lipi is sister-in-law of the mayor’s brother.
According to the legal notice, mayor Annisul aided her mother and brother to file a case with
Rampura Police Station against her on false information. Without cross-checking the information, the mayor took a side that is very regretful. The notice also read that the mayor told Lipi ‘shameless’ that was scandalous and defamatory.
The notice sought an explanation within next seven days or further legal steps would be taken.
