May Day observed in dists

The historic May Day was observed in the Sylhet city and other adjoining areas Sunday like other parts of the country and the world as well with a fresh vow to uphold the rights of working people with maintaining harmony between labours and owners.
Various political parties, trade unions, labour and socio-cultural organisations had chalked out elaborate program including hoisting of national and labour-flags atop the offices of trade unions and labour organizations, discussion meetings, rallies and cultural functions marking the day.
In observation of the day, district and city Sromik league jointly organized a post-rally discussion at the Sylhet Central Shohid miner premises in the morning. Central AL Organizing Secretary Misbah uddin Siraj addressed the discussion as the chief and special guests respectively with District AL Secretary Shofikur Rahman Chawdhury in the chair. Sylhet City Secretary Asad uddin also spoke. Terming the working class as the driving force of the national economy, the speakers said development of a nation is not possible without the development of condition of the working class.
Staff Reporter, Kishoreganj says: The Historic May Day was observed on Sunday in the district as elsewhere across the world with a pledge to establish the might of workers.
Many workers organisation, trade union, political parties including ruling Awami League, BNP, JSD, CPB, BSD, Socio-cultural bodies and Kishoreganj District Administration arranged colourfull rallies, discussion, posturing and cultural function marking the day.A discussion meeting held at local Art Council hall on Sunday morning with Deputy Commissioner Md. Azimuddin Biswas in the chair.
It was addressed among others by SP Anowar Hossain Khan, ADC (G) Tarafder Md. Akhter Jamil, Additional SP Mostakin Hossain, Sadar UNO Abu Naser Beg, Muktijoddha District Commander Md. Asadullah, Press Club President Kazi Shaheen Khan and Senior Journalist Saiful Hoque Mollah Dulu.
Baraigram (Natore) Correspondent reports: The May Day was observed in Baraigram upazila under Natore district on Sunday. On the occasion, Upazila Administration brought out a rally and arranged a discussion meeting. It was addressed among others by Bonpara Pouro Mayor K.M.Jakir Hossain, upazila AL-Chairman Abdul Jalil Pramanik, Principal Abdur Razzak Mollah and EX-Chairman Mohibur Rahman.
Gouripur(Mymensingh) Correspondent reports : The International Labour Day, widely known as May Day, was observed in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh district in a befitting manner on Sunday , as elsewhere around the upazila, with colourful processions and the voicing of the workers’ demand for pay-hike to enable them to cope with continued inflation and price-spiral.
Apart from the government, various trade and labour unions, human rights organisations, professional bodies, socio-cultural organisations and political parties observed the day holding seminars, discussions and cultural programmes in the upazila and elsewhere. Ruling Awami League upazila and poura Unit held different programmes to celebrate the day and others took elaborate programmes to mark the day. People from all walks of life and activists of political, cultural and professional organisations brought out a procession in the town of Gouripur upazila.

The district administration and regional office of the Directorate of Labour with different workers’, labourers’, professionals’, socio-cultural, political and volunteer and human rights’ organisations have been observing the day through day-long programmes.
BSS from Jamalpur reports: Historic May Day was observed in the district on Sunday in a befitting manner.
Different workers organizations observed the day with rally, discussion meeting and cultural function.
In the morning district administration arranged a rally in the town. Deputy Commissioner Md. Shahabuddin Khan led the rally.
Workers of different organisations took part in the rally that paraded different the main streets.
