Chittagong City Mayor M Monzoor Alam said, May Day is academic significance of the workers who have been fighting for the minimum wage for about half a century.
It is a festival for the labourers. He further added that May Day is workers’ day. All industries and factories was closed in Chittagong. All the buses, human holler, taxi and other public transport were closed.
City mayor attended a workers’ rally at 9 am started from Nagor Bhaban.
City Mayor also attended a workers’ gathering at the Pragaon Convention Hall as Chief Guest at Sirajudowlla Road.
Three Registered trade Union of city Corporation jointly organised the workers gathering. He urged the workers to attentive and sincere in their own works Place . City dwellers pay the tax for expect better service from City Corporation. We respect the workers and we are very sincere to the right of their salaries and other facilities. City Corporation is a service oriented organization and we all are responsible to the city dwellers.
