The 2nd Bangladesh Denim Expo will begin from May 11 to 12 at the Hotel Radisson, Dhaka with a vision to increase Bangladesh’s share to $7 billion in the global denim market by 2021.
A total of 25 companies from Bangladesh, the US, Germany, China, Japan, India, Italy, Thailand, Italy, Turkey, Hong Kong and Pakistan will participate in the expo and showcase fabrics, finishes, washes, accessories, technology used in denim manufacturing.
The participating companies from Bangladesh are Yogotex Fabric Company Limited, Argon Denims Ltd, Mahmud Denims Limited, Denim Expert Ltd., Zaber & Zubair Fabrics Ltd., Nassa Taipei Denims Ltd., South China Bleaching & Dying Fty Ltd., Shasha Denims Ltd., and Amber Denims Ltd.
American & Efird (Bangladesh) from the US, Paddock Jeans Ltd. from Germany, Juki Bangladesh and YKK Bangladesh Pte Ltd from Japan, Garmon Group from Italy, Foshan Shunde Benjie Textile Co. Ltd. from China, Epic Group from Hong Kong, Denimco Tekstile Pazarlama A.S from Turkey, Absolute Denim Co. Ltd. from Thailand, Malwa Inds Ltd. from India, Kassim Denim, Kohinoor Mills Ltd., Rajby Textiles and Azgard Nine Limited from Pakistan will take part in the 2-day exposition.
Retailers from US, UK, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Turkey, Japan, and Brazil are expected to visit the expo.
The target of $7 billion has been fixed in line with the vision set by BGMEA to reach $50 billion of apparel export by 2021.
Bangladesh’s share in $60 billion global denim market is still insignificant and the country has ample scope to earn more from the export of denim garment products.
The expo has witnessed positive response from retailers in its first edition held in November 11th& 12th, 2014. Buyers from C&A, Charles Voegele, Gap, G-star, H&M, Hema, Hermes OTTO International, Jack & Jones International Limited, Kappahl, Levi Strauss & CO., M&S, Newyorker, Next, S.Oliver, TESCO, Time Zone, Tom Tailor, Uniqlo, VF Asia visited the expo in 2014. About 2601 denim passion visitors also attended the trade fair at that time.
In the 2-day expo there will be three seminars on different topics. Bangladesh Denim Expo and BGMEA will jointly organize the first seminar titled “Made in Bangladesh a new reality- Vision 2021”. The second seminar on “S/S 16 Key Denim Trends” will be presented by WGSN, while the third one on “Pioneering Green screen® in the Apparel Industry” will be presented by Gramon Group.
A fashion show on the latest designs and fashion of denim will be organized in the evening of the second day of the expo.
The Bangladesh Denim Expo is a non-profit enterprise. The aim of the show is not only to promote the denim trade in Bangladesh, but also to encourage better business practice and to improve the living standards of Bangladeshi people. Surplus funds from the show will be channeled into a seed fund for a Denim University in the country to promote knowledge about the denim business.
