Matin Khasru laid to rest

The SC judges, lawyers and other fellows paid their last respect to the former law minister and Supreme Court Bar Association President Abdul Matin Khasru on the Supreme Court premises on Thursday.
His namaz-e-janaza was held on the Supreme Court Bar Association premises
at 11.00 am on Thursday. Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, Law Minister Anisul Huq, Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim, Local Government Minister Md Tajul Islam, Attorney General AM Amin Uddin, Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, judges of the Appellate and High Court divisions and Supreme Court lawyers took part in his namaz-e-janaza.
After the Namaz-e-Janaza a police contingent offered guard of honor to Abdul Matin Khasru as he was a freedom fighter. Then floral wreaths were placed on behalf of president, prime minister, speaker, deputy speaker on the coffin of the veteran politician.
Chief justice, law minister, judges of Appellate Division and High Court Division, SC lawyers and leaders of different political and professional organizations also paid their last tributes to the former law minister.
Supreme Court Bar Association Secretary Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal read a short biography of Khasru on the occasion. Khasru’s son Munayem Wasif sought blessings for his father.
Awami League presidium member Abdul Matin Khasru was elected Member of Parliament five times from Cumilla-5 constituency. He was the Law Minister of Awami League led government during 1996 to 2001 period.
Khasru was elected the SCBA President on March 11 election, but could not participate in the ceremony of taking charge from the previous executive committee on Monday because of his illness.
He was born on February 12 in 1950 at Mirpur village of Brahmanpara upazila in Cumilla district. He participated in the liberation war of the country in 1971 and acted as a commander of Burichong thana area.
The family members said that Khasru was buried after his last namaz-e-janaza after Asr prayer at Burichong upazila in Cumilla, his constituency.
