Fourteen renowned mathematicians from different countries including USA, France, Germany, Japan, Australia, Portugal, Philippines, Ireland, South Africa, India, KSA and Nepal called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman today December 8, 2019 at the latter’s office of the university, says a press release.
President of Bangladesh Mathematical Society Prof Dr Md Mubarak Hossain, Chairman of the Department of Applied Mathematics of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Shafiqul Islam and Prof. Sajeda Banu were, among others, present on this occasion.
During the meeting DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman stressed the need for undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programs among the University of Dhaka and other renowned universities around the world to resolve the burning problems of the society.
He said, academicians and researchers of different regions have to work jointly for well being of human civilization as well as making the world more beautiful.
It may be mentioned that academicians and researchers from different countries are now on a visit to Bangladesh to attend the three-day long International Mathematics Conference at DU. This conference concluded today December 8, 2019.
The Department of Applied Mathematics of DU and Bangladesh Mathematical Society jointly organized this conference with a theme of “Mathematics: Challenges and Reality”.
