The 14th meeting of the Sub-Committee on Strengthening Parliament’s Capacity in Population and Development Issues (SPCPD) project under the technical assistance of UNFPA on “Maternal Health Development, Ensuring Safe Delivery and Family Planning” was held at Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban recently, said an official press release.
Chairman of the committee ASM Feroz presided over the meeting. Committee members- Md. Abdus Shahid, MP, Md. Shahiduzzaman Sarkar, MP, and Md. Habibe Millat, MP were also present at the meeting. Besides, committee member Md. Shamsul Haque Tuku, MP joined the meeting virtually.
The meeting requested the electronic and print media to create awareness among the people about family planning programmes aimed at reducing unplanned pregnancies, reducing maternal mortality rate, increasing women’s participation in works and ensuring population control in Bangladesh, it added.
