‘Material Flow Cost Accounting’ to reduce industry’s hidden loss

Speakers at a seminar on Tuesday said the application of ‘Material Flow of Cost Accounting’ in industries could act as motivating factor for entrepreneurs as it benefits reducing material cost and lessen adverse impact on environmental.
Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and Social Responsibility (SR) Asia Bangladesh jointly organized the seminar on “Material Flow Cost Accounting (MFCA)” at DCCI.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Industries Secretary M Moshaffaf Hossain Bhuiyan, ndc said the government has taken strategic measures to make the state-owned industries profitable and to this end, they need to adopt modern technology.
In line with the rapid industrialization, he said: “We need to focus on skill development, infrastructure development, reducing cost of doing business and reducing environmental threats.”
The industries secretary underscored the need of realistic sector-specific market research before establishing heavy industries for sustainability.
Acting President of DCCI Humayun Rashid said Bangladesh has achieved remarkable progress in social and economic frontier, but still staying behind in the context of environmental issues.
“One of the reasons for falling behind is that material flow of industrial and manufacturing process which is source of environmental degradation is not monitored meticulously,” he noted.
