Masum Hossain of Fire Service and Civil Defence emerged champion of the Metropolis FIDE Rating Chess Tournament, securing eight points from nine matches, which ended at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room on Sunday.
Shohag Hossain finished runner-up with 7.5 points.
Six players earned seven points each and their position were decided through tie-breaker
They are: 3rd – Anisuzzaman Jewel, 4th – Dewan Shahidul Amin, 5th – Mohammad Farhadur Rahman, 6th – Shahnaz Mohammad Faruk, 7th – Belal Hossain and 8th – Naim Hossain Bhuiyan.
Seventeen players earned 6.5 points each. Eight players were placed 9th to 16th positions.
In the 9th and last round matches on Sunday, Masum beat Sheraj, Shohag defeated Nayan, Belal crushed Shibu, Jewel drew with Farhad, Shahidul drew with Shahnaz, Avjit drew with Alamgir Jr, Shariat drew with Jaber and Zakaria drew with Zafrul.
Top 16 players of the meet will participate in the 42nd National B Chess to be held on nine round Swiss League system.
